The Gift of SSE for your Networking Team

Networking in today’s world is hard enough as it is, especially when connectivity needs to be from everywhere. During this holiday “SSEason,” Axis wants to give the gift of making you and your team’s lives easier. Our new 2022 Atmos Winter Release has some major new features that we hope your networking team and end-users will enjoy!

Cleaning up the network with SSE

For many businesses, the list of network security solutions can be long and wide… One of the main goals of Atmos SSE platform is to allow businesses to consolidate the array of services to make admins’ lives easier and users’ experience better. As a result, Atmos has the complete portfolio of Secure Service Edge (SSE) services in every one of its PoPs. This means that each Atmos PoP can inspect, enforce, and route all Secure Web Gateway (SWG), Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB), and Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) destined traffic. Digital Experience Monitoring (DEM) also provides all the visibility you need into user traffic to help pinpoint performance issues.

This single SSE service allows many organizations to completely eliminate much of their legacy access technology, in many cases removing the inbound and outbound security stacks completely. This significantly reduces complexity for networking teams and costs associated with appliance deployment, maintenance, and management while also delivering an enhanced user experience for the business.

Capacity limits? Never heard of them

Normally a company will have anywhere between three and five legacy VPN gateways (More for extremely large enterprises) to ensure the right level of capacity for its users. Many companies struggled with this as the pandemic hit and capacity requirements grew 10x overnight! This infrastructure comes at a significant cost as well as a high level of complexity. You have to manage all that hardware, feed and water it, patch it, as well as replace it on a regular basis. With cloud-delivered SSE this just isn’t the case. Instead of 3-5 gateway locations, the Atmos Platform offers almost 150x the number of edge gateways without cost and complexity. Someone else does the feeding and watering and there is no need for hardware replacement. In fact, Axis is dedicated to our “PoP Desert Initiative,” where we identify customers’ underserved areas and automatically deploy new PoP locations in under 2 hours.

Choosing the path of least resistance

The quickest connections are made possible through intelligent routing. With Atmos Smart Routing, Atmos combines the strengths of AWS, GCP, Oracle, and now Azure. This means that any available edge location can receive and forward traffic from any of the prior mentioned public cloud vendors. Every individual access session is given the shortest way feasible to optimize business efficiency while offering 2-3X the redundancy of other SSE vendors. Atmos also includes automatic failover as a standard to guarantee ongoing dependability and availability.

Bringing the Edge even closer

Axis also has an even closer way to route traffic to users through the new “Atmos Local Edge.” This on-premise edge location is deployed as software and swiftly connects users and servers to private apps that are running locally without first hairpinning out to the internet. This means that users still get quick access to authorized local resources while admins can ensure that users are not actually placed on the corporate network. This is ideal for hybrid work environments where potentially compromised users and devices are coming on and off the network, now Atmos Local Edge offers the same access to on-prem applications without placing the risk on the network. Atmos Local Edge is also very beneficial for simplifying enablement in difficult-to-manage countries like China or nations with stringent data protection laws like Germany.

The gift of SSE we hope you love

At Axis, we carefully considered what cutting-edge SSE features would make adoption simple for IT and immediately beneficial to the company. This is only a portion of the advancements included in the 2022 Atmos Winter Release. Check out the rest of what our Winter Release has to offer.
