What’s a Rich Text element?

"

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing
A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
Fortune 500 Global vacations company trusts Axis to secure access for modern workforce, and replaces VPN
Global Vacations Company

This global vacations company knows how fast data can travel, which is why they turned to Axis to enable zero trust access to private apps, protecting customer data, and eliminating risk from the corporate network by adopting Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA).

Challenge
  • The vacation company has a wide-variety of users to support - including employees, partners, and customers – each requiring specific levels of access.
  • The vacation company has hundreds of custom-built, legacy applications that users need to access. Supporting access to these apps can present challenges.
  • The vacation company found that traditional access solutions were complex to manage, difficult to scale, and costly for the organization.
Solution
  • Atmos helped the organization enable zero trust access to internal apps for all users, devices, from all locations.
  • Atmos now serves as the VPN alternative, allowing the organization to provide modern access with support of all ports and protocols while allowing secure connectivity even for custom-built apps. Now, no app is left behind during the company’s transformation.
  • Atmos eliminated many security design flaws associated with traditional VPN access – exposed network IPs, extending network access, allowing lateral movement and over-privileged access.

The need for connectivity founded on zero trust

With +10,000 global employees and partners, 3,200 resorts, across 80 nations, this global vacations company is the leading “pure play” public timeshare company. With both remote and hybrid sales processes and 1.6 million members in their exchange network, the global vacations organization faced a dilemma. How do I support access to hundreds of custom-built (often legacy) internal applications from employees, partners, and customers located across the globe?

Connectivity wasn’t the only problem, but securing that access was made especially difficult due to the design flaws of traditional access solutions. The CISO team knew they needed a better way to not only serve their employees, but their strategic partners and in turn their revenue-driving customers. This need drove this global vacation company to discover zero trust access delivered through a Security Service Edge (SSE) approach.

" I wanted something with a robust infrastructure, something that could give us threat detection, misuse detection, data loss prevention, different types of security controls, etc.”
Chief Information Security Officer

Ironically, VPN access was creating risk

The technology that was supposed to secure remote access was also the reason the global vacation company struggled with risk in a couple of areas. First, VPN technology by nature is a beacon on the open internet as users look to access internal applications. The VPN beacon is visible for your desired employees and partners, but also the bad actors looking to take advantage of security break points. VPN exposes IPs to the internet, providing a target for internet-based attacks like DDoS.

Another design flaw with VPN is that corporate network access is extending to the end-user. Instead of users simply gaining access to an internal application located on the network, VPN extends full network access, inviting users and devices (and any associated risk) along with it. Network-centric access solutions synonymize application access with network access which results in risk accumulating heavily on the corporate network.

Supporting a variety of users, the vacations company recognized that the level of access should be variable based on context (function, device posture, location, etc). VPN grants full network access, allowing users to move freely once inside the network. Implementing any form of segmentation with VPN is challenging as it requires complex network segmentation. Even with network segmentation, access is not granular to the application level.

On top of all these security implications, the global vacations organization struggled to manage the growing demands of VPN as it was difficult (and time-consuming) to scale, and becoming increasingly costly for the business. COVID-19 exposed this as well, resulting in VPN infrastructure becoming a chokepoint that hampered business productivity.

Finding the right fit with SSE

Searching for the right modern access solution took some time. The global vacations organization had evaluated several vendors, including Zscaler, but many platforms weren’t mature enough, were founded on SWG instead of ZTNA technology, didn’t fully replace VPN technology, or weren’t able to deliver the zero trust access they desired. The vacations company needed a SSE solution built for their current and future needs, this is where they discovered Atmos by Axis.

Axis worked with the vacation company’s security architecture and applications teams to immediately relieve key pain points with the Atmos platform. First, COVID-19 created an immediate need for secure access without agents. With Axis, the global vacations company was able to onboard and secure access for over 1,000 BYOD users and 30 business applications in less than 2 days. Additionally, the Atmos platform was able to quickly take “problem-child” applications that were old, or out-of-date, and make them securely available for employees and partners alike without the use of legacy VPN. The impact of Atmos SSE was immediate zero trust access for all users.

The attack surface was minimized, as Atmos cloaked the network, making applications unreachable for unauthorized users. However for authorized users, easy-to-use zero trust policies allow seamless access to defined applications. The vacation company experienced this when providing secure remote access to developers who were testing an app. Atmos enabled them to make the app Internet-facing earlier in the life cycle, without exposing the application to the Internet test environment. Those who were authorized could view the app, but those who were not, couldn’t see the app whatsoever.

The global vacations company was also able to restrict risk of lateral movement, limiting access to subsets of applications based on the user's function – employee, partner, or customer. Atmos’ unique approach to access works in a way that application access reaches out from the network environment instead of allowing the user in. As a result, Atmos creates one-to-one connections that make it impossible for a user to go beyond their authorized access permissions, thus eliminating lateral movement or malware propagation.

The quick win instantly reinforced Axis’ unique differentiation in the market, and encouraged the CISO, and his team, to move forward with Atmos service -  starting by implementing zero trust access for their partner ecosystem.

" We were already testing Axis, so we applied it and it quickly solved the problem VERY fast. Axis found a better way and delivered it successfully to the application teams.”
Chief Information Security Officer

A continued future with Atmos SSE

As Axis adoption continues, the CISO hopes to see Atmos fully replace VPN and Virtual Desktop solutions altogether over the next few years. Even so, the global vacations company continues to find new ways to use Atmos SSE. With zero trust, they have found they can securely “publish” their internal applications to the Internet — internal finance applications, additional test environments, even core business applications  — without worrying about exposure.

While the security benefits of SSE have been vast, the global vacations company looks forward to the increasing time and money saved as a result of Atmos, as well as the continued simplicity and ease of management regained by IT teams. Next they will look to leverage the Atmos Secure Web Gateway functionality as an alternative to their incumbent secure web gateway.

“ Axis was very responsive and willing to listen to our use cases and develop the product and make it work. We wouldn’t get that sort of response from a bigger, more legacy solution.”
