Director, Sales/Business Development (SDR/BDR) Team

The BDRs are the first point of contact for prospective customers and are vital contributors to growth and pipeline.  We are searching for an experienced, highly motivated, data-driven BDR/SDR leader with exceptional business skills, a track record of success, and a natural desire to win.

You will manage and grow a team of BDRs bringing expertise and passion for acquiring new clients and have proven success in prospecting, sales pitches, qualification, and general business development.  You and your team are hunters who can tell a compelling story to multiple roles in an organization, using your influence and skills at relationship building.  You will help scale a best-in-class BDR team that you will hire, train, and manage.  The BDR Director will also work closely with sales and executives, as well as outside agencies and vendors. This individual will play a key role in generating highly qualified pipeline.

This is a unique opportunity to join an exciting early stage startup in a hot space and make a huge impact on establishing Axis Security as a market leader. The role reports to the CMO.  Location is flexible, but preferred Boston, NY, SF Bay Area.


  • Hire, train, and manage a team of BDR’s focused on creating and qualifying leads, setting up prospective customer meetings, and partnering with Regional Sales Managers to drive pipeline growth.
  • Deliver constructive, real-time feedback to help the BDR’s hit and exceed their quotas.
  • Measure and continually find ways to improve process and performance.
  • Foster collaboration within BDR team and across the company.
  • Foster individual growth of team members through mentorship, leadership, and coaching, to develop career growth path for BDR’s.
  • Analyze business and industry trends and implement best practices to keep the team ahead of the curve.
  • Promote a culture of transparency, accountability, and collaboration


  • 6+ years’ relevant experience including 2+ years of successfully building, leading, and managing teams of SDRs/BDR’s, or inside sales professionals in a B2B SaaS technology company.
  • Security industry experience a plus.
  • Deep understanding and successful track record of quota achievement, generating pipeline through outbound activity and analyzing and converting inbound lead opportunities
  • Results oriented, metrics driven track record
  • Demonstrated excellence in account-based marketing, engaging with mid-level and C-level executives at strategic enterprise accounts is critical.
  • A track record thriving in an entrepreneurial and self-starting environment leveraging your creativity, insight, and intellect.
  • Experience with, Outreach and other tools.
  • Strong organization and time management skills with excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Detail oriented and analytical with an ability to thrive in a high growth startup.
  • Innovative, motivated, organized, high energy team player with attention to detail and a good sense of humor.
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Travel as needed (~10% of the time)
